Math Assessment- First Observations and Introduction


         Welcome to the math assessment portion of this portfolio! I have done a conceptual assessment of a student while working with 3rd graders for 5 months. I observed this student on several occasions doing addition and subtraction. The student’s only true interaction with addition and subtraction was with timed drills. The student did their best to complete them but was overwhelmed by the task and would skip many or just write down answers. He was consistently discouraged with only having one algorithm to solve addition and subtraction problems.
